A multifunctional armchair, perfectly combining comfort, design and modularity. The Alky’s design allows for individual use, but chairs can also be joined together. The foam is printed directly on a set of elastic bands, to ensure comfort and stability.
These particular examples are vintage and whilst are still in excellent original condition the upholstery shows signs of fading and marks. We would be happy to assist with an upholstery quote should the purchaser wish to recover, however they still present very well.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Giancarlo Piretti, born in 1940 in Bologna, Italy, is a distinguished interior and industrial designer known for his innovative contributions to furniture design. He studied drawing at the Art Institute of Bologna, where he later taught Interior Design. Piretti's career has been marked by a commitment to creativity and functionality, leading him to create several iconic pieces that have become staples in modern design.
One of Piretti's most notable works is the Plia Chair, designed in 1967. This folding and stacking chair is celebrated for its practical yet stylish design, making it a popular choice in various settings. The Plia chair exemplifies Piretti's ability to blend form and function, and it has gained recognition as a significant piece of furniture design in the 20th century. Other important designs include the Alky Chair and the Plona Chair, both showcasing his innovative approach to materials and ergonomics.
Piretti's work has been widely recognized within the design community. In 1988, he unveiled the "Piretti Collection" at Chicago's NeoCon, which received acclaim for its originality and aesthetic appeal.
